It’s no secret that your Power Talk can be a game-changer for your business.
Add in the trustworthy TEDx logo, and that gets amplified even further.
But landing your TEDx Talk (and creating a performance you're incredibly proud of) can feel impossible when you try to go it alone.
How do I find events?
What makes a great application?
What are the secrets to a powerful talk?
How do I even memorize this thing?
What in the world am I supposed to do with my hands?!
In Amplify, my small-group coaching program, I'll hold your hand (see what I did there?) right from the get-go.
From idea generation to selecting events to creating compelling applications… from content brainstorming to drafting to editing your talk… and from simple memorization strategies to your powerful performance…
I'll be there to guide you through it all!
You’ve had your “Big Talk” on your goals list for months. Years even.
I know how it is — I waited years to give my talk! 🤦🏻♀️
But no matter how long you’ve waited, you can…
Start leveraging the power of TEDx today.
(Like, actually today.)
You don’t have to wait to give your talk before you start to reap the benefits of TEDx.
From the moment you commit to making your TEDx Talk a reality, you can use the credibility of the TEDx brand to grow your business.
Long before you step foot onstage—even before you ever submit an application.
Seriously.
When you share on social media that you’re starting your TEDx journey . . .
When a networking 1:1 asks what’s on your plate and you say, “I’ve been working on my idea for TEDx” . . .
When you send a podcast pitch and let the host know that you’ve just applied for TEDx with a related idea . . .
Three things happen:
✨ Instant positive interactions
They’re ready to celebrate you (and brag about you)! Bonus: If that celebration (and bragging) takes place on social media, that teaches the algorithm to share your content!
✨ Eager, authentic interest in your business
Because you’re actually doing the thing that’s still pinned to their vision board. They see you as being steps ahead of them—an expert!
✨ Credibility (yep, already)
People start to associate your name with the credibility of TEDx. With the quality, the insight, and the impact.
Every time you talk about yourself as a future TEDx speaker, your listener’s brain connects the dots — whether they’re a colleague, a potential client, or a media outlet:
“You are an expert. Your ideas are valuable. I should pay attention and learn from you.”
Just by sharing your goals and experiences.
Here’s the thing, though: you can’t start talking until you’ve committed.
The TEDx effect can impact your business for, well, forever.
Imagine:
✨ Reaching out to your dream podcasts and media — and being invited to speak or write for them because of your TEDx credibility
✨ Inspiring a completely new-to-you audience to look you up, follow you, and purchase your book, course, or program
✨ Sharing a high-quality, high-integrity video of you speaking (in person!) on the red dot any time you apply to present at a conference, in-person summit, or other event
✨ Experiencing “a-ha!” moments that clarify your message and help draw clients to you
✨ Not only creating an impactful TEDx Talk, but as a byproduct, walking away with a trove of useful content to repurpose into articles, social media, program content, podcast episodes—or even a book
But how do you do it?
Where do you start?
How do you apply?
What makes a great talk?
What makes a great talk for the internet?
How in the world do you memorize it all?!
What does it take to give an incredible talk “on the day”?
In Amplify, you’ll learn how to:

I’m Cathlyn, your Power Talk Keynote coach and creator of The Amplify Method.
Before I started coaching business owners through the TEDx process, I spent 4 years as a competitive speaker and 10+ years as a professional live theatre actor, director, writer, and copyeditor.
In 2021, after I gave my own TEDx Talk, folks in my network started looking at my background and saying, “Hey, I want to give a TEDx Talk! With all your experience, would you coach me?”
And it makes sense — my background gives me the perfect Venn diagram of skills to help you shape your Idea Worth Spreading, write and edit your engaging and impactful talk, and powerfully present your world-changing message on the TEDx stage.
No matter who you are, I believe that if you want a TEDx Talk, you can get a TEDx Talk.
(It might also help to know that I’m neurodivergent, naturally shy, introverted, and socially anxious. So I understand how hard it can be to stand up on stage and open your heart to a live audience!)
I created The Amplify Method to help business owners design and deliver their world-changing message at TEDx or on other high-impact stages.
I’ve used this method with my 1:1 clients, and now it’s available to you through my Amplify group coaching program.
The TEDx process is different for business owners.
All TEDx speakers want to spread their message and positively impact viewers’ lives.
That’s true for scientists, philosophers, philanthropists, artists, and business owners.
But as a business owner, you have other specific goals for your TEDx Talk, too.
Maybe you want to:
✔ Grow your visibility and connect with potential clients
✔ Prime yourself for a book deal
✔ Sell a book you’ve already published
✔ Kickstart your speaking career
✔ Be seen as a legit, trusted expert
Those are all great reasons to earn the credibility that comes with giving your TEDx Talk.
And there are specific hurdles for businesses, too.
The TEDx platform exists to spread valuable messages. It’s not a stage where you can pitch, sell, or promote your business.
So how do you…
…Come up with your perfect “Idea Worth Spreading”—one that isn’t promotional, but still sets you up as an expert?
…Craft a compelling event application that assures TEDx organizers that’s you’re not a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”?
…Find TEDx events that serve your goals as a business owner?
…Design a powerful talk that gets your message across and tells the right stories to share your expertise (without getting your talk flagged as “promotional” and denied publication on TEDx online channels)?
With The Amplify Method, I guide you step by step through all these questions and more.
This done-with you, curriculum-based group coaching program covers:

✨You work best with external accountability
✨ You want the credibility and visibility that comes with giving a TEDx Talk, but you’re not 100% sure how to land one — or how to create a talk that can create persistent ripples of impact
Speakers who achieve success with TEDx:
✨ Understand that the TEDx stage is a place to share an impactful idea — not a place to pitch or directly promote a business
✨ Know that the TED committee (that decides whether your talk gets published online) requires your ideas to be factually supported and evidence-driven
✨ Have a message on their heart (whether directly or indirectly related to your business) that can change the perspective of a wide variety of people
You’re ready to take your red-dot dream and make it a reality.

FAQs
I have a bunch of different ideas. Should I wait until I’m sure which one I want to focus on?
Short answer? Nah. It’s great that you have so many ideas! One of the first things you’ll experience in Amplify is a 1:1 session with me, where I’ll help you refine and finalize your Idea Worth Spreading.
Besides, you’re not limited to just one TEDx Talk in your lifetime! Let’s get started with one idea instead of getting stuck in analysis paralysis. Together, we’ll choose the topic that can be most powerful today. Later, you can always use another one of your ideas in another TEDx Talk.
I’m already scheduled to speak at a TEDx event. Can I get a discounted rate since I won’t use the earliest modules?
Even if you’ve already been accepted, I suggest you do begin with the earliest modules.
While you won’t need guidance on finding the right event, it will likely still be helpful for you to use the guides—as well as your 1:1 World-Changing Idea Session—to get off on the right foot.
Additionally, group coaching calls begin right away, so no matter what part of the process you’re at, you can get the personal feedback you need right from the start.
By the time the program ends, will I have a TEDx Talk?
Here’s what I promise:
In AMPLIFY, I’ll give you all the tools and support you need to land your TEDx Talk — and get ready to give a powerful, thought-provoking talk on the red dot.
As long as you do the work, by the end of Amplify, a TEDx organizer could say, "I need an emergency fill-in at my event next week!” and you could confidently say “I’m in!”
(Yes, that happens in real life.)
TEDx is partially a numbers game, and getting your talk is about persevering through the “no”s (and the non-responses). That means that you might continue to send out applications even after your 6 months of AMPLIFY end. On the flip side, I’ve also had clients get their acceptance letters just a few weeks into working with me!
The long and short of it is that while you can always choose to extend your enrollment, the support provided in AMPLIFY (through both the modules and the live calls) means by the end of the 6-month program, you will have had access to all the tools and support needed to get your talk and have an amazing time giving it, too.
I want my talk to go viral. Can you help with that?
There are programs out there that want to sell you on the dream of a viral talk. They’ll drop names like Simon Sinek and Brené Brown—experts whose household-name status came to them partially as a result of their TEDx Talks.
But the fact is that just like TikToks, memes, and blog posts — most TEDx Talks don’t go viral. Especially today. (Simon and Brené gave their talks in 2009 and 2010 respectively. The internet was a different place then.)
And that’s 100% okay. There’s so much value in giving a TEDx Talk, whether it gets a million views or a thousand views.
In Amplify, we focus on what we can control. I teach you to work the TEDx process so you can give a highly impactful talk on the red dot—and use it to accelerate your business at a pace that works for you.
Are there any kinds of businesses you don’t work with?
Part of the reason I love doing the work I do is because I get to be a conduit for the impact my clients make in the world! I love that I get to be at the center of this process with you. And I want to be sure my values align with the work you do! When you apply, I’ll ask you to share your (general) idea and a little bit about your work and what you’re proud of! If you’re a great fit for the program, I’ll let you know.
How much time do I need to set aside to reach my TEDx goals?
Depending on how quickly you want to move through the process, you can make good progress in 2 hours per week. Plan to show up to the calls and work independently for an hour each week.
The curriculum is self-paced, so you can take as long or as little time as you need as you move through it. As you get closer to your event, you’ll likely want to set aside more time, up to 1 hour per day, especially during the final rehearsal period.
How big is the group? Will I get individualized attention?
I anticipate between 5-12 speakers. (The maximum for the group is 24.)
Every speaker begins Amplify with a 50-minute, 1:1 Idea Generation Session. Then, throughout the program, between office hours and hot seat calls, you’ll have lots of additional opportunities for personal feedback, instruction, and guidance.
For additional 1:1 support, you can also enroll in VIP Access ($600), which gives you weekly access to individual coaching over the Marco Polo app.
I’m not sure a group program is right for me. Do you do 1:1 coaching?
I do! You can apply to work with me 1:1 here.
I don’t live in North America. Will Amplify work for me?
It might! Here are some things to keep in mind:
As a coach, I’m monolingual and only able to help edit and direct your talk in English. There are many English-speaking events around the world! But if you prefer to give your talk in a language other than English, Amplify is likely not the best fit for you.
Group coaching calls are scheduled during North American working hours (Tuesdays at 10am PT / 1pm ET and Thursdays at 8am PT / 11am ET). Recordings of the calls are available to all Amplifiers. I’ve worked with speakers in the U.S., U.K., and Australia.
I don’t know if my message is “world-changing” enough. Can I still be successful as a TEDx speaker?
Keep in mind that there’s a broad spectrum of “world-changing” ideas. If you know how to remove all the plastic from the oceans in just 30 days, or if you can solve world hunger with your one simple tool, that’s great.
But also . . . if you can change the perspective of a handful of people, and inspire them to share your idea so it changes the perspective of a few more, and a few more, and a few more . . .
That’s great, too.
That’s impact.
That’s world-changing.
And yes, you can be successful as a TEDx speaker if your idea can create that kind of ripple effect.
So let’s do it.
